REGISTRATION

 

How do I sign up for Soup for the Soul?

Sign up online at https://soupforthesoul2019.gofundraise.com.au. All hosts will receive a Soup for the Soul event kit once you have registered.

 

 

Do I have to setup a Go Fundraise page?

No. While we encourage event hosts to setup a fundraising page on Go Fundraise as an easy way to share your event online and track donations you are welcome to host an event without one.

 

Please visit our Resources page if you would like to print an invitation template to send guests or just pick up the phone and let them know! Also see below instructions for cash donations.

 

How much does it cost to sign up?

It's FREE to sign up!

 

When is Soup for the Soul?

The official dates for Soup for the Soul are 20 - 27 July 2019 to coincide with World Head and Neck Cancer Day on 27 July. But don’t worry if those dates don’t work for you, you can pick any date in July to hold your soup event.

 

Does my event have to include soup?

While we encourage sharing a bowl of soup in July, you are welcome to hold any event you would like to support Beyond Five throughout the year. From golf days, to gala dinners or even a local bake sale – let your imagination take over!

 

FUNDRAISING

 

How do I fundraise?

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to go about fundraising. Here are some tips you may like to consider:

 

- Instead of asking for a gold coin donation have a fixed entry fee e.g. $10.

- Ask your favourite local cafe to donate a percentage of all soups sold during July 2019.

- If you are hosting at work, why not ask your employer if they will match what you raise.

 

Why should I make a donation to myself?

Research shows that a one-off donation on your fundraising page encourages other people to donate more to you. Making a donation to yourself is a great way to kick-off your tally and inspire others to sponsor you.

 

Do you have any posters or other promotional materials to help me fundraise?

There are a range of posters and social media images available to donwload, see our Resources page.

 

How long will my fundraising page remain open for?

You can start fundraising as soon as you sign up, and fundraising pages will remain open until Friday 30 August 2019.

 

Can I fundraise outside the month of July?

Although the Soup for the Soul campaign runs alongside World Head and Neck Cancer Day on 27 July 2019, you can fundraise for Beyond Five at any time during the year.

 

 

BANKING FUNDS

 

How do I deposit funds raised?

Funds can be deposited by:

 

Credit card
Please encourage your supporters to donate online so they’ll automatically receive a tax receipt via email.

 

Bank deposit or transfer
Deposits can be made directly into Beyond Five's bank account, please include your Surname or Event name as a reference.

How do I process cash donations and organise receipts?

People are entitled to a tax deductible receipt if their donation is over $2 and they haven’t received anything in return (e.g. a raffle ticket). There are two options for processing cash donations:

 

Option 1: Add individual donation to your Go Fundraise page (preferred)

  • Collect the cash donation, deposit into your bank account.
  • Use your credit card to add the donation to your Go Fundraise event page.
  • Enter each cash donation separately including the donor’s name and address so their name shows up on your page.
  • Once the amount is processed, each donor will receive a receipt for their donation.

 

Option 2: Complete a Soup for the Soul Donation Form

  • Collect the cash donation, deposit into your bank account
  • Complete a Donation Form which includes a record of the donor’s full name, address details and donation amount.
  • Return to Beyond Five after your event and a tax deductible receipt for the donation will be sent to the donor.

 

MERCHANDISE

 

Is there any Soup for the Soul merchandise?

Included in your Soup for the Soul  Host Kit is one maroon head and neck cancer awareness ribbon. If you would like to order more for $3 each, please contact us

 

At this stage there is no other merchandise available.

 

 

ABOUT BEYOND FIVE

 

Why should I support Beyond Five?

Beyond Five is Australia’s only not-for-profit organisation supporting patients with head and neck cancer, caregivers, family and health professionals.

 

Beyond Five currently receives no government funding and relies on public donations and corporate support to fund our activities.

 

Why host a Soup for the Soul event?

There are more than 17,000 people living in Australia with head and neck cancer and nearly 5,000 people are newly diagnosed with head and neck cancer each year. Head and neck cancer affects a person’s identity unlike any other cancer. While many people survive the disease, the cancer can strip away a person’s voice, distort the face and rob the basic abilities to eat, drink and swallow.

 

By hosting Soup for the Soul event, not only are you raising funds to support Beyond Five provide education and support to people affected by head and neck cancer but you are also raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease.
